I cheated..!

I have no idea why, but I made a photo-blog-ish-type thing. I already have my dA account, and flickr as well (though I haven't touched flickr in eons).. And I promised myself I wouldn't spread my work around until I've learnt how to watermark my stuff.. But I can't resist. Its just one of those things.. Hahaha..! I'm a fickle, fickle person.

Lately I've found myself full of ideas for essays. All on fiction. I really shouldn't have stuck it out in politics - but it is such a fun subject to study.

Anyway, this has resulted in lengthy discussions and arguements with Mama dearest regarding works of fiction spanning from classics to contemporary fiction. She declared I would have passed all her classes with flying colours. Then she told me to get on with my under-grad thesis. I was supposed to click my fingers and suddenly go from talking about the impact of culture in an author's characterization and signature flair in telling stories to ponder the impact of technical assistance in dealing with HIV/AIDS in Indonesia!

Of course considering how everyone jumps from talking about one thing to another in what is supposed to be 'quiet, relaxed afternoon coffee times', in this family.. with heated voices no less.. I shouldn't be surprised.

*sigh*

I much prefer talking about fiction than the real world. I understand it so much better. *laments*

I suppose I better get on with it then.

Ciao!

Baby/Marriage Fever SUCKS ARSE.

  • Jan. 9th, 2009 at 12:48 PM
Seriously. I'm thrilled my cousin is married, and with a baby to boot. But dude. Leave me alone.

My itty bitty niece is cute and adorable and lalala, etc. And I'm no where near ready to have one myself. Bravo to those who are, but leave those who aren't alone, will you?

I was eating lunch with my mum and grandparents and all of a sudden they start spouting off random names of cousins I don't even remember having, who are apparently about to get married. Or are engaged. Or whatever. (Lucky for my brother and my cousin they weren't around, or they would have received an earful as well.)

Marriage is a vague idea at the back of my mind at the moment, I would like it someday.. But when exactly is at best foggy. I'm young (22 is young imho!), and still very stupid, and starting a family right now is a very very bad idea. For me. Again, bravo if you can do it!

Anyways. They start saying stuff like "You wanna wait till you're a granny to get married?", and "If you have a kid soon, we'll have an army of toddlers!".. And then mum says "Deadline for you is 25.".. Seriously..? WTF!?!?! I'm 22!! 25 us like.. in three years, and that's just way too soon. I don't even have a guy in mind.

I'm not panicking because I'm single, and my mum wants me married by 25. No. I'm pissed. I do not want to be married at a young age - some of my friends do, and kuddos to them. But HELL NO. Not me. It may have once occured to me as I was playing dumb-idiot, that I should find a rich dude and get married just so I don't have to work, but as a serious option..? Nope.

I was laughing over this with my bezzie and again with my cousin, and again with my brother a while back. But being bombarded from three different people at one time seriously sucks. I should be used to this, coming from a family who considers insults as gestures of affection. But insults - I'm used to, I think them cute. Perssuasions and threats about marriage however - not fun.

Now that I've ranted, I feel so much better. And I can kinda laugh about it a bit. But I'm still avoiding discussing this subject with The Old Ones for the forseeable future. My reflex for running away is still good!

Warning to brothermine and Cousin Dear - When Lathifa has just been around, avoid grandparents. Hang it. ANY parental figure.

- As written by my 8 year old cousin, Mini Me. :P

Guess which one I am! Hahaha. My adorable, favourite 8 year old cousin (the others are older or younger, no one else is 8 so its safe to say 'fave 8 year old cuz' :P), Rifa! When she was 4 she pointed to a photo of me and asked why she doesn't have the dress I was wearing anymore, she thought she was looking at a picture of herself. Since then I've always called her 'Mini Me'.

I just spent an enjoyable half an hour decorating cups with glass-paint over at her place. Will post pictures up as soon as the cups dry and I don't get paint all over my hands again! Hee :D

Sleepy time..

  • Nov. 2nd, 2008 at 3:20 PM
I went baby-supplies-shopping today with my cousins, and I was drooling! All the pretty colours! The soft fabrics! Cushy toys! I don't want to have a baby, I want to be one! I want to roll around a rainbow coloured blanket, hugging a squeaky Elmo while laughing gleefully.

The joys of being a baby today. All the gadgets that make noise! I'm (physically) not a baby (not sure about my mental capabilities though), and I was ecstatic. Till around about the time we had to pay for the stuff we threw into the baskets. Damn.. Babies are expensive. Further cementing my thoughts of wanting to be one, and not having one.

Gah.

My cousin is due December, and will be my first direct nephew/niece. I'm nervous! And excited! My family is so close knit, and this addition will be an odd, but welcomed one. We've already decided if its a girl we're keeping her away from pink, and if its a boy.. Well we haven't really decided much. Hahaha..!

And being in that store.. I was sleepy for more than half the time..! The smell of babies = sleepy time!

So with that, I'm gonna grab a cup of coffee and cuddle my blanket for a short nap before I return to real life.
